flat bulb - joonhuyn kim
unlike ordinary bulbs its volume is 1/3 smaller, reducing the cost of packaging and transport. its slim shape allows bulbs to be easily stacked and prevents breakage as it does not roll.
'citrus clock' - anna gram
the 'citrus clock' runs on the energy of a lemon which has the ability to power the time-teller for a week or longer. the technology behind the clock is similar to those principles used by mr. volta back in 1799 when inventing the battery - using an electrolysis of zinc and copper (the plug located under the lemon) in a salted or acid liquid (lemon), to create electricity. the project is meant to quickly remind us of the various ways in which nature, despite the continuous transformations we subject it to, is still our most valuable resource and main source of energy.

bamboo chairs
bamboo's superior strength and fast growth pace makes it a very sustainable alternative to wood.
the cantilever chair '43' is comprised of forty-three laminated bamboo slats (hence the name) utilizing the structural potential of this fast growing material to create comfort and flexibility. designed by konstantin grcic for /yii/.
/yii/ is a collaborative project organized by NTCRI (National Taiwan Crafts Research Institute) and TDC (Taiwan Design Center), which aims to conserve and transform traditional craft techniques in the contemporary context through design.

baked - formafantasma
words from formafantasma:
“While we were working on our thesis (a collection of vases), we decided to make some tryout to check the proportions of a form we had designed. Not having something else we mixed different ingredients we had in our kitchen like flower, salt, coffee and channel to simulate earthenware colour. We later baked the result in our oven. What a beautiful result! A material better than bio-plastic, easy to make.”.
nice way to fast prototyping and it is a natural and sustainable material.

- colors are obtained filtering and boiling different natural products such as paprika, spinach, blueberries, coffee etc.
- it needs low-temperature baking (50-70 degree)
- it is totally biodegradable
- the material doesn’t corrupt because of the use of spices and salt as natural preservative
eating design - panpaati by enoc armengol
panpaati or 'eating design' by the spanish artist and designer enoc armengol is 100% alive matter and 100% biodegradable. armengol's installation can be seen as a reflection of our actual society. the product came to life through a fast production process and after a short lifespan it turns into almost ephemeral furniture.

jose collection - mauricio arruda
jose collection is a family of storage furniture pieces produced out of materials and processes that achieve a more responsible environmental impact. the urban landscape produces plenty of material that goes overlooked and underused. by combining an archetype with available plastic containers, he created a transitory object that speaks to different levels- cultural and environmental.
the collection utilizes solid wooden sheets that carry the FSC seal (Forest Stewardship Council) and treating those sheets with a natural camauba wax without the use of solvent-based finishes keeps the material fresh. the piece is then completed by adding multi-colored plastic containers creating a humble, practical and dynamic piece.

organic factory - gilles belley
the 'organic factory' offers domestic objects whose design is intrinsically linked to the use of agromaterials (bioplastic), meaning materials that are made from agricultural waste and are biodegradable under water. due to their "sustainable" label, agromaterials are usually confined to replace petroleum-based plastics.
